Nobody knows exactly, which of watches were in space, but we are sure that it was  Pobeda.

The first experimental flight with the ship Sputnik 4 was launched on 9 March 1961, carrying the dog, called Chernushka, along with 40 black and 40 white mice, guinea pigs, reptiles, human blood samples and cancer cells, plus various microorganisms and plant seeds.

One curious story came out of the Chernushka flight: after the flight, members of Chernushka recovery team found a wristwatch fastened to her leg. This was unexpected, unauthorized and a mystery, until they noticed the inscription on the back and traced it to its owner, Dr Abram Genin from the Institute of Aviation and Space Medicine. He told the story of the watch in his interview conducted by the Smithsonian Institution in 1989.

Some journalists later made up a story that Genin wanted to check if the watch would work in zero gravity, which was not true, since he knew that it would. He was still wearing the watch at the time of the interview in 1989.

Today the brand Pobeda is proud of this story and presents the new watch model “First in Space”
